Project #1 and the Beginning Of It All

So, we will have to go back in time because, while I have been dutifully capturing the daily images, I have not been recording them. I was in the hospital for a week and was released Oct 4, 2010. I felt like shit and knew that I would be spending a lot of time sitting on my ass. On the way home I stopped at JoAnn Fabrics and bought $300 worth of yarn because I decided I would teach myself how to knit. Momma and I both have copies of the Reader's Digest 'Complete Guide to Needlework'

and I have considered it a crafter's bible for many years. I spent a few weeks learning and cussing a lot, but I've always been more inspired when I have a purpose. Coincidentally, many of my friends have decided to have babies at once and what better project than a baby gift. My very first knitting project ever was a baby blanket for my friend Tanya Smith started on 10/00/10. I used a pattern called 'Whisper Soft' on page 9 from the book 'Quick Knit Baby Afghans' by Evelyn A. Clark.
I also added a number of crocheted flowers to the corners of the blanket using patterns that I found in the book 'Crochet Embellishments' by Jean Leinhauser. I used a bunch of scrap yarn and made every flower in the book, partly because I wanted to teach myself how, and partly because I was addicted.

FINISHED PROJECT!

I didn't know at the time the obsession this blanket would start, so I didn't record the type of yarn I used, the size of the needles, or any other project info. Tanya and baby Addison loved the blanket and Addie had her first baby photos taken with it.
