As much as I was loving Sam's Scarf, I was also running out of yarn. I could call it done, but it's really not and I hate short scarves. I think they need to be long and plush, just in case you want to wrap it around your neck a bunch of times. So I need to go to the store and buy 3 more skeins of alpaca so I can add about a foot onto this scarf. Not about to just jump in the Jeep and head to the store, I'm still feeling pretty crappy.
In the meantime, I have always wanted to knit mittens but always thought it was a project way over my head. I found a simple pattern in 'Beginner's Guide Knit Stitches & Easy Projects'. I used some crappy natural looking acrylic yarn that we had laying around and my size 5 round needles. The mitten was much easier than I had expected and it even turned out looking like a mitten. In the future I need to measure my hand better and make changes as I'm going. And I'll definitely use different yarn, especially since you wear the thing on your hand so you're constantly feeling it.
xoxo
