Sunday December 12, 2010: Advent Scarf Day 6 and Farmer Dick's Birthday

Momma and I did a bit of baking and candy making yesterday, it was fun to revisit those old talents. I tried to pull off some peanut brittle, but apparently I'm too impatient to let the syrup boil to the hard crack stage and I poured it before it was ready. Now, if you bite into the shit you'd better be prepared to lose anything in your mouth that you weren't born with. The turtle bars turned out excellent though, pops said he liked them. Momma made a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and when dad came home he had an angel food cake that Grandma made just for him. Yesterday was a cold snowy windy day, a great day for baking and knitting and for getting ready for a birthday.
Today I gave dad a new pair of Ugg slippers since his old ones are in disrepair, and he liked them a bunch. With no good reason to get out of our pajamas, Momma, Pops, Ethan, and myself all enjoyed a beautiful coffee morning and I knit until my little heart's content. Momma made a wonderful roast beast dinner and I'm sure Pops had an an enjoyable birthday with all of his treats.

Day 6 complete. A great 'through the back loop' stitch.

xoxo
